Laravel / PHP Developer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Laravel / PHP developer to join the team at swatchbook and help deliver high-quality web applications and RESTful APIs.

This role is remote within the USA, requiring a valid work permit.


PHP, Laravel, MySQL

Key qualifications

  • 2+ years of PHP and Laravel experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Laravel's fundamental concepts and experience building factories, facades and libraries using abstract classes, interfaces and traits.
  • Strong knowledge of PHP and OOP.
  • Experience in RESTful API design.
  • Successful track record of working with a development team.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of MySQL.
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Git and clear understanding of the Gitflow workflow.


  • Write clean, secure, test driven, easily maintainable and modular code.
  • Improve the quality and stability of existing code through bug fixes, writing unit tests and general maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members about task progress, development schedules and estimates.
  • Develop custom RESTful APIs and integrate 3rd-party APIs as per project requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in web development.
  • Document the development process, architecture, and components as needed.
